Clinical Psychologist
Dr Jenny Hansen is a clinical psychologist who has completed a Doctorate of Clinical Child, Adolescent and Family Psychology. Jenny is a member of the Australian Psychological Society who holds Clinical College membership.
Jenny has specialist training and extensive clinical experience in the area of assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, adults and families. Jenny worked for many years in child and adolescent mental health. In addition, Jenny has worked in private practice for over a decade with children, adolescents and adults who have experienced a range of psychiatric and psychological difficulties.
Jenny works in many different ways depending on clients’ specific needs and goals. Therapy modalities include Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), insight oriented therapy, parent and family therapy.
Jenny enjoys working with people from all age groups, ranging from early childhood through to adult. The most important focus of her therapy is developing a trusting, supportive and collaborative relationship with her clients to assist them in better understanding and coping with their difficulties thus allowing them to make positive changes in their lives. There is nothing more fulfilling then helping a client in their journey to improved mental health. Jenny will often receive messages from clients many years later to share their life journey and/or achievements because they have developed a strong therapeutic relationship and know she genuinely cares.
Jenny provides psychological services for adults, offering a collaborative and individually tailored therapeutic approach. A range of therapeutic modalities is provided, depending on clients’ individual difficulties and their specific goals for therapy. Jenny works closely with professionals such as General Practitioners and Consultant Psychiatrists as required.
